From September 1981, Renault introduced a new model with a more modern body design, the Rodéo 5 (with the name now reversed when combined with the Renault branding). This model was based on the Renault 4 GTL and featured more compact dimensions. Still equipped with the 1,108 cm³ engine, it was manufactured by Teilhol, the new name for ACL since July 1978.

Production of this model ceased in October 1986: it was considered a partial failure and did not have a successor in the Renault lineup.
